About Paul Dougherty
Paul was hatched from an egg before going on to multiple janitor and burger joint jobs around the South where he learned to tap dance and shine shoes. It's currently his goal to bring Esperanto to all nations on the planet.
Paul Dougherty - lives in Munich, Germany. Born in Houston, Texas. Lived in Nashville where his father Tommy Dougherty, soul/blues singer and Hammond B3 player,
recorded the classic album Touch My Soul in 1975 and the collector's
item Tommy Dougherty released in 1977 on Guiness Records. Tommy Dougherty was also a successful Nashville session singer.
Paul Dougherty played in indie pop / punk bands in Nashville like every other white kid with a clown nose. The avant garde / indie pop trio (complete with sometimes additional porno Elvis impersonator) Chilhowie
lasted from 1992 to 2000 and was a regional favorite in the South. In 1994 The Nashville Scene Reader's Poll voted Chilhowie runner up to the Homecoming Queen as the second best band in the city. From 2000 to 2002, Paul fronted The Uninsurables, an Americana band and favorite on the Nashville club circuit. Earlier bands included the punk band In A Sense in the late 1980s and a short run with the eclectic Pagan Luggage in the early 90s.
In 2002, Paul moved to Germany, living first in Karlsruhe on the Rhein before moving with family to Munich in 2005 where he currently lives.
In 2004 Paul recorded the acoustic recording In My Living Room, and in 2009 the critically acclaimed
CD Grace Under Water, which ranked in the Top 10 on the Roots Chart for Internet radio spins.
The new 2010 release I'm Only in It for the Money is a return to the punk rock roots.
Paul Dougherty is also a photographer who works with various analog and alternative processes such as lith photography, cyanotypes, liquid emulsion and more. In addition
he's an oil painter and writer.
