Paul Dougherty was born in Houston, Texas. His father, Tommy Dougherty, was a successful
musician in Houston at the time, a blues and soul singer and Hammond B3 organ player. In 1972, the family moved to Nashville, Tennessee where Tommy Dougherty pursued singing and writing in the music industry, becoming one of the most
sought after session singers in Nashville.
Paul grew up in Nashville and started playing in bands at an early age, starting off with a Beatles songbook like every other kid with a guitar at that time. He played in the local and surrounding clubs throughout the area, starting in the late 80s and playing throughout the 90s with various punk and alternative bands, including the popular Nashville trio Chilhowie in which he played guitar and sang the lead vocals. Chilhowie released the cd Happy Hour in 1999.
In 2001 and 2002, Paul formed and played with The Uninsurables, an Americana based group which recorded the cd Keep the Feet On.
In 2002, Paul moved to Germany. The acoustic cd In My Living Room was recorded in 2004.
Paul Dougherty now writes and records music in Munich, Germany, and he is also an avid photographer who works with various analog and alternative processes such as lith photography, cyanotypes, liquid emulsion and more.
